Introduction to Nadia: Valence's AI-Powered Leadership Coach
Ryan — Coaching Team, Valence. Ryan introduces Nadia and walks through a complete coaching session — from opening a conversation to working through a real leadership challenge, role-playing, and receiving a summary and scorecard.
Nadia is Valence's AI-powered leadership coach — designed to be the always-available thought partner that most people don't have easy access to at work. This introduction covers what Nadia does, how she works, and what a real 10-minute coaching session looks like from start to finish: bringing a challenge, getting reflective questions that surface root causes, developing a structured approach, practicing through role-play with real-time feedback, and ending with a summary and scorecard. Nadia is available in many languages, learns your organizational context, and builds a personalized understanding of your goals and challenges over time.
What Nadia Does
- Always available, always personalized. Nadia is on 24/7 — she can talk to you five minutes before a meeting, five minutes after, or whenever something is on your mind. Over time, she builds a picture of your goals, your challenges, and the context you are working in, so her advice becomes more specific and actionable the more you use her.
- She learns your organization, not just coaching theory. Nadia can be trained on your company's leadership frameworks, culture, and expectations — so the coaching is grounded in what matters in your specific environment, not generic best practice.
- A complete session takes about 10 minutes. A typical coaching session with Nadia — from naming a challenge, to exploring root causes, to developing an action plan, to role-playing the situation — takes roughly 10 minutes. That is enough time to meaningfully prepare for a difficult conversation or work through a leadership challenge in the flow of your day.
- Role-play with real-time feedback builds confidence before the real thing. Nadia can play the role of the person you are preparing to engage with — a defensive team member, a difficult stakeholder, a challenging peer — and provide feedback on each response you give, so you arrive at the real conversation having already practiced it.
- Nadia supports two core use cases: career development and day-to-day leadership. Career development includes skill-building, processing feedback, setting goals, and tracking progress. Day-to-day leadership includes preparing for meetings and conversations, engaging teams, role-playing challenging interactions, and working through interpersonal dynamics. Both modes are available any time.
Common Questions About Nadia
What is Nadia and what makes her different from a general AI tool?
Nadia is an AI coach purpose-built for leadership development by Valence. Unlike general-purpose AI tools — which know a little about a lot and require significant effort to guide toward useful answers — Nadia is designed specifically around how adults learn and develop. She builds personalized context about you over time: your goals, your blind spots, your organizational environment, and the challenges you are actively working through. She does not just answer questions; she asks the right questions to help you think through situations more deeply, and she remembers previous conversations to provide continuity across sessions.
How does a coaching session with Nadia actually work?
You start by bringing whatever is on your mind — a difficult conversation you need to prepare for, a piece of feedback you received, a skill you want to develop, or a team challenge you are working through. Nadia asks reflective questions to understand the situation more deeply and help you identify root causes. She then offers structured approaches and works with you to develop a concrete plan. For interpersonal or communication challenges, she can move into a role-play where she takes on the character of the other person and provides real-time feedback on your responses. The session ends with a summary, follow-up agenda, and a scorecard that identifies longer-term development areas.
How long does a typical Nadia session take?
A complete coaching session — from naming a challenge through to role-play and a summary — typically takes around 10 minutes. Shorter check-ins of five minutes or less are also common, particularly for quick preparation before a meeting or a brief reflection afterward. The voice feature makes sessions faster than typing, and Nadia's structured approach means conversations move efficiently toward useful outcomes even in limited time.
What is the difference between using Nadia for career development versus day-to-day leadership support?
Career development use cases include building specific skills, processing feedback you have received and translating it into concrete goals, tracking progress over time, and planning long-term development moves. Day-to-day leadership support covers preparing meeting agendas, role-playing difficult conversations, working through team dynamics, engaging with challenges as they arise in the flow of work, and getting practical help with tasks like drafting communications or structuring follow-ups. Most people use Nadia for both, often in the same session.

What is Nadia and what is she designed to do?
Ryan: Hey there. This is Ryan from Valence's coaching team. I'm pleased to present to you Nadia, Valence's AI-powered leadership coach. Nadia is a lot of things, but most importantly, she is that best friend, that peer, the mentor, or the coach that you can work with to get advice in an effortless and safe environment based on any situation you might be facing at work.
Talking to Nadia is easy. She's always on and always available to help you out at any given point in time. She is highly personalized — she learns a lot about you, about the context you're working in, and caters to all the different situations which might arise in that working environment, to make sure all of her advice is actionable and easy to follow in your day-to-day work life. She's also in your flow of work. She can talk to you five minutes before a meeting or five minutes after to debrief, help you prepare for conversations you might find challenging, or help you make sure you're building the skills and working towards goals that will help you develop in your career. She's available in many languages — if you speak more than one, we highly recommend talking to her in the language you're most comfortable in to get the advice in the most effective way for your growth and development.
What are the two main ways people use Nadia?
Ryan: Most people leverage their AI coach in two ways. The first is career development and growth — a skill you're trying to develop, or feedback you've received that you want to turn into specific goals you want to achieve over a period of time. Nadia can be an excellent thought partner here: she can help you brainstorm possible solutions and help you stay accountable to the goals you're working towards.
The second is day-to-day leadership support. You might be preparing for a meeting and could use Nadia's help to come up with the most effective agenda. You might want to engage your team around challenges you're facing as a leader. Or you might just want her help role-playing a conversation that feels a little challenging — so you can approach it with confidence and be prepared to put your point across in the best way possible.
What does a complete 10-minute coaching session with Nadia look like?
Ryan: The core of this experience is talking to your AI coach. When you log in, you land on a homepage with context about what you've been working on. Let me show you how easy it is to start a conversation. I'll click Start Chat, and that lands me on the page where I begin my conversation with Nadia. Right off the bat, you'll see that Nadia remembers me — she remembers what we've been talking about and wants to follow up. For today, I just want to talk about something that's on my mind.
"Hey Nadia, I'm going to be talking to my team member soon and I need to give him some critical feedback. I'm a little hesitant for this conversation that's coming up because he always approaches it with defensiveness, and I feel a little hesitant to give him feedback because of that. Can we chat about this?"
You see me using the voice feature to talk to Nadia naturally — making it very easy to give her all the context she needs without typing long messages. If you prefer to type, that option is always available too. Nadia is a highly trained coach — she is going to remember specific traits she has seen before, approach with empathy, and then start structuring what problem-solving for this situation might look like. There might be strategies to follow, a structured approach for the feedback session, or you might just want to role-play the conversation.
This is what a completed conversation looks like. This entire conversation was about 10.5 minutes. We started off by breaking down what would be most helpful. I wanted to approach things with a problem-solving mindset, so Nadia started breaking down potential root causes for the defensiveness I was facing. She asked reflective questions — inquisitive, curious, wanting to know more. Within minutes, I had potential root causes of what could be driving these issues.
Within minutes, I also had strategies I could use to approach the conversation. I chose my favorite one, and Nadia gave me everything I needed to prepare: from setting the stage to developing an action plan and following up. She then suggested we role-play. We talked to each other as if I was approaching my team member — she played the role of my team member, and with every response I sent, she gave me feedback on what I could do better. This helped me improve my approach and build confidence for the conversation ahead.
The end of the conversation had a clear summary that helped me recall everything we discussed, and she ended with a scorecard that identified specific areas I could focus on for longer-term improvement. I hope this gives you a great idea of what it's like to come to Nadia with a problem, choose the approach that works best for you, problem-solve it together, and arrive at the best solution for your specific situation.
Thank you for your attention. I hope this gave you a great first step to start your own AI-powered coaching journey with Nadia. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Valence team or your internal partners who can help you leverage your AI coach to its fullest potential. Have a great day ahead.
